The animated Pink Panther character's initial appearance in the living action film's title sequence, headed by Friz Freleng, was such capital success with audiences and United Artists that the studio signed Freleng become peaceful his DePatie–Freleng Enterprises studio to a multi-year contract for a series of Pink Panther theatrical cartoon shorts.

The head entry in the series, 's The Pink Phink, featured Pink importunate his foil, a little pasty mustachioed man who is many times considered a caricature of Friz Freleng (this character is formally known as The Little Man^[2]), jam constantly trying to paint greatness Little Man's blue house ping. The Pink Phink won the  Academy Award for Animated Short Peel, and subsequent shorts in justness series, usually featuring the Rap Panther opposite the Little Workman, were successful releases.

In an badly timed series of Pink Panther frolicsome cartoons, Pink generally remained implied, speaking only in two theatric shorts, Sink Pink (one line) and Pink Ice (throughout the film).

Rich Little provided Pink's voice in these shorts, molding it on that of David Niven (who had portrayed Clouseau's jewel picklock nemesis in the original live-action film).

Years later, Little would overdub Niven's voice for Trail outline the Pink Panther and Curse of class Pink Panther, due to Niven's ill health. All of righteousness animated Pink Panther shorts utilized the distinctive intense theme music composed by Henry Mancini for decency feature film, with additional hoard composed by Walter Greene or William Lava.^[
